Retirement

I am 75 years old. I have been seriously ill for much of the last three years, but even at 72, before I became ill, I can’t imagine having been able to carry out the duties of my high stress career, even at that age, let alone at the age of 77 (Trump), or 82 (Biden), and my career was nothing like the presidency of the US. It seems that baby boomers and pre-baby boomers can’t let younger people take over. What kind of a message is that? An elderly person, in effect telling younger generations that they can’t be trusted, that they are inadequate and ineffective, even compared to those who are mentally and physically weakened due to the natural aging process, and, in the case of Trump, eating a terminally bad junk food diet. It seems to me that aging gracefully is accepting one’s age based limitations and trusting younger generations in their prime, to do what you did in your prime.
